Jump Around!

On our way here, after we stopped to eat at Twin Falls, we were driving back to I-84 and I saw a guy wearing a parachute on this back as we went over the bridge.

I quickly pulled over and grabbed Alissa and Audrey. We headed to the overlook.

Three guys were about to jump off the bridge to base jump from the bridge. I have never seen this live, so it was pretty cool that we just happen to be going by at the moment.

So we got this little video of one of the guys jumping. I deleted the audio for quicker upload.

A guy standing by us told us that this is one of the few bridges where it is legal to do this kind of jump from a bridge.

Breakfast

Does your breakfast look like this after you are done?

We barely made it for breakfast in time at McDonald's. We were the last person served breakfast.

Audrey likes to tear her food apart. So I your food does look like this then perhaps you would get along very well with Audrey.

Oops

I would also like to formally thank Pastor Matt. He was very helpful. You rock! Not that he wants or needs to be thanked because he is that kind of guy.

But I missed thanking him in my earlier post.

Fun Pic from Monday

Couldn't resist snapping this picture. I'm sure that it had nothing to do with being based out of Eagle, Idaho but thought it would be fun to take anyway.

Zzzzzzzz

Sorry no posts today. We have been very busy unloading our truck. I've got a great couple of posts for yesterday that I will get up tomorrow.

A very special thanks goes to Jackie and Robin. Jace, Josh, Brent, Lisa, Pete, Ben, Chris (and Mitchell) and many others helped today as we totally unloaded the ENTIRE truck in about four hours. Wow! Thank you guys (and gals) for giving your time and your muscles!

It was also great to sit down (finally) and eat with some of you and your spouses.

Lastly, I want to make sure that I say thank you to Paige, Tanner and Ryan, Will, and Abby for playing with my little girl. She was so happy to not have to lift all those big boxes. You can see in the picture that they even played with a certain key character in our journey here. Pretty awesome!

But now it is time to take a bath and go to bed. I'm tired! Muy cansado!

The Ramp

This river is very calm in this picture. You can just make out the ramp in the background where Evil Kenevil was going to make his jump over the Snake River.

If you don't know who he is then I am much older than I thought.

The Lizard

Alissa found this lizard. Audrey was both fascinated and scared of it. The lizard sat there a long time and was not bothered by us. Audrey was very bothered by it. She wanted to be held and talked about that lizard for the next ten minutes. She wanted to know if the lizard could get her. I had to tell her many times that it would not get her. And that she was much bigger than the lizard.

Our God is so big, so strong and so mighty there's nothing that our God cannot do. He probably thinks the same thing about us sometimes. Do you think He wonders why we don't understand that because He is so big and so powerful and so loving that there is nothing that can keep us from Him and all that He has for us if we would just trust in Him?

Walking with the Father

I love this picture. I don't have very many pictures of me on this blog so to have this one with my daughter is quite unique. And, very special.

It kind of reminds me of what it might have been like for Adam and Eve when they were walking with God in the Garden. All the beauty that was around them and the most beautiful thing was the relationship between the Father and themselves. God dotes on you. He holds your hand and walks with you, helping you when you stumble, helping you when you fall.

What do you do to keep your relationship with the Father new? Do you dote on Him?

Wow.

This is awesome! We stopped at Twin Falls to eat and we saw this amazing view. The pictures don't do it justice.

Length

Have you ever wondered how long those white marks are on the road? After driving for 5 days, you start to wonder.

I tell you what, whoever reads this, is the first to come up to me and tells me how long those really are will get a very special little something. (Oh, and you have to be a kid!)

Welcome to Idaho

Woo Hoo! We are getting closer!

This time Mr. Potatohead got it right. He is even looking at the camera, which is very hard to do when your eyes don't move.

The Road to Ogden

On the way to Ogden, these snow covered mountains were pretty. This was a hard picture to take because there was construction on the road and there were these concrete things that were guiding us down the road. Something told me that it would be good to NOT hit those concrete things.

I Saw the Sign

Here is the first sign that we were getting close to Boise!

Entering Utah

We were entering Utah but you can't really tell because somebody's hand is covering the sign! I told him to move it but he wasn't listening that day. Oh well. What can you do when you have arms that are yellow and look like they are broken in four places.

More Wyoming Pics

Here are some more various pictures from western Wyoming. We decided that the east side of Wyoming is prettier than the west side.

See for miles

Now that it wasn't raining you could see a long way in Wyoming. It was a little like Utah, which is good because we were about to be in Utah. Kinda cool that way.

Sage Brush

As we were going through Wyoming there was this greenish brush everywhere in the fields.

At this rest stop we finally got to learn what it was.

Driving in the Clouds

As we continued across Wyoming the rain didn't really ever quit. There were times where it would stop for a few moments and then continue to drizzle or even pour. But every once in a while we would get to see something amazing like this picture. The clouds were so low we thought we would be able to just drive up into them. The clouds, at one point, seemed to cuddle our van and we couldn't see very far. But it was peaceful.

Of course the semi behind us going down the hill kept us from forgetting where we were. ; ]

Pizza for Dinner

We stopped at Pizza Hut for dinner. They were having an all you can eat buffet. Very nice.

My daughter told me that I should take a picture of her and mommy and then posed with a cheesy grin.

She has been sitting in a car seat all day so she probably needed to burn off some energy.

She is a good traveler and is looking forward to being in Idaho.

Home on the Range

Wyoming is beautiful! If you haven't ever seen it, it is like something out of the old westerns. It is open plains with rolling hills. We were so surprised to see how incredible it was. I would love to see it during a sunny day with the mountains in the distance.

Wyoming

If you look really close in the background you can see the welcome sign to Wyoming.

Have you figured out why Mr. T is wearing his police clothes?

It is because today is Memorial Day and there are a lot more police officers out on the road making it safe. I thought they might get a chuckle out of it if we got the chance to meet one.

The Buffalo

The lone buffalo was standing on the open range. At least that is what it looked like for about 10 seconds. Then, we figured out that the buffalo was really a huge iron buffalo that was set out to look like a real buffalo.

Well, it did its job. Looked real to us. : ]

I thought it was neat that someone actually thought to do that. I wonder how many people thought the same thing we did.

The Rockies!

As we approached Denver, the clouds were overflowing around the Rockies. They are hard to see because of all the clouds but you ought to be able to make them out.

A cool map

This map was on the wall at the Welcome Center. If you look really hard you can find Boise.

Welcome to Colorado!

We made it to Colorado! Here are a couple of picks that we took.

Weather

In Kansas, there are a lot of flat areas. Storms are pretty common and pop up very quickly. This is one of them. The dark stuff at the bottom is falling rain.

Freedom

I like the quote on this plaque that was at a rest stop today. We stopped along I-70 and while I was waiting there it was.

It says "Freedom Isn't Free" and talks about those that were wounded or killed in battle that received the Purple Heart.

It reminded me that our freedom that we have through Jesus' death on the cross was not free. It was sacrifice. Jesus gave up everything to come down here so that we could be free to live with Him forever.

And that is awesome! Can you even imagine what He gave up for us?

The Windmills

In Kansas today, we came across a wind farm. There were so many of them! There were at least 50 of them.

It was cool to see cows and tractors moving around underneath these big white fans.

Camera play time

Audrey has learned how to take pictures with my phone. This is one of her masterpieces.

Sunset

As we were driving north on I-135, God gave us a beautiful sunset to enjoy. Isn't He awesome?

And he sure can paint well!

Hollywood

No, we aren't driving in California. Audrey is wearing her sunglasses while we wait for our food at Applebee's. Maybe it's just me but isn't she cute?

Oklahoma!

Woo hoo! Into Oklahoma we go!

Oklahoma's saying used to be Oklahoma is OK.

If you have ever been through Oklahoma you know that it is pretty in it's own way. Maybe that saying on the license plate was pretty close.

It is very flat there but it is green. When we were in California it was very brown. We lived in between San Diego and LasVegas. It was a very dry place with Joshua trees.

At least in Oklahoma you can see a looooonngg way. : )

Lunch

We stopped at Taco Bell for lunch. They had this mural with a pickle with a hat. You don't see that everyday. Well, I guess you do if you eat at this Taco Bell everyday. : ]

The pool

It was very cold in the pool. I think the thermometer said 75 degrees. But we swam a little anyway. Audrey did much better in the pool than last year. She do not like it at all then. This year she could touch bottom in the shallow end and she thought that was pretty cool.

Grillin' Ribs

My dad grilled some ribs for dinner. It was a good time with our family. My sister and her husband came over with their son. Just a good ole southern meal. We even had sweet tea!

Posing with diamonds

Got the whole family in this one. Although we had been sitting in the dirt and sun for four hours.

We didn't find any diamonds but we did find some other stones. It was a good time!
